Meet Jo Uygongco
Artist, Storyteller, and Full-Time Adventure Seeker!
Turning Life’s Stories into Color (And Loving Every Minute of It!)

The Colorful Tale of
Jo Uygongco
Hey there! I’m Jo Uygongco. If you catch me at the right moment, you’ll probably see me scribbling on any paper I can find—yep, I was that kid doodling on scrap paper! Creativity definitely runs in the family; my dad, Ed Uygongco, is a painter too, so I grew up surrounded by colors and brushes. It wasn’t until 2014 that I picked up a paintbrush myself after randomly walking into an art class at a mall (I still can’t believe that happened!). That moment sparked a passion, and I’ve been painting nonstop ever since!

My teacher, Eileen Bondoc-Escueta, really opened my eyes to all the different ways I could make art. She introduced me to so many mediums, and I dove into each one like a kid in a candy store—watercolors, Chinese brush painting, acrylics, pastels… you name it, I wanted to try it! These days, my “palette” is a mix of all those things, but I’m especially drawn to watercolor and acrylics.
I try to paint as much as possible, and I carry a mini painting kit everywhere I go. You never know when inspiration will strike, right? Whether it’s a cool street scene, an interesting object, or just a random moment, I’m always looking for something to paint. And, of course, I share my little art adventures on social media—along with my love for food, travel, and photography. Oh, and I made up the hashtag #SketchEat because, why not? It’s my way of inviting everyone to join me on this creative journey of sketching food and travel, my two favorite things to do.
But here’s the thing: I can’t sit still for too long. My travel adventures keep me on the move, and I’ve learned to just go with the flow—literally. Over the years, my art has become less about planning and more about intuition. I’ve been embracing that “go with the flow” vibe, letting the art guide me instead of trying to control everything.
A little about where this journey has taken me: in 2022, I was named one of the Global Top 50 in the Stylized & Abstract category at the Global Art Connection Watercolour Exposition in France and Poland. I’ve also been part of KULAY SA TUBIG, the Philippines’ biggest watercolor competition, since 2021, and my work has been featured in exhibitions in places like Italy, Hong Kong, Albania, and more. And let’s just say, I’ve had a lot of fun being part of nearly 60 art group shows since 2015!
Oh, and if you’re curious to explore this “go with the flow” approach to art, I even run a workshop called “FLOW – More Than an Art Workshop.” It’s all about tapping into your creativity without overthinking it.

So, welcome to my little corner of the web! I’ve got a collection of my paintings here, and I’d love for you to take a look and maybe even find something that speaks to you. If you’re interested in anything, feel free to reach out. I promise I don’t bite! (Well, not literally, haha). I can’t wait to connect with you!

My Colorful Mission
“To inspire creativity, embrace spontaneity, and paint the world with a palette of wonder, one brushstroke at a time.”
I’m convinced art is basically a secret superpower. Seriously! It has this incredible way of bringing people together, making us laugh, and, honestly, just totally flipping how we see the world. It’s not about creating some perfect masterpiece – it’s about that “wow, I never noticed that before!” moment when you realize how much beauty is hiding in plain sight. Through my paintings and workshops, I’m all about helping you tap into your own creativity – even if it starts with doodling on a napkin (hey, that’s how the big ideas start, right?). Life’s full of little sparks of beauty if you know where to look – and sometimes, it’s in the messiest, most unexpected places (yep, even that spilled coffee can be art, haha). So, let’s make a mess, splash some color, and turn those everyday moments into something a little more magical. Trust me, the world gets way more interesting when you see it through a fun, colorful lens!
Fun Facts About Me
I made up the hashtag #SketchEat because food and art just go together.

Glitter, in my opinion, should be a primary color 😍

I got to chat with BBC Lifestyle once! Pretty wild, right? Definitely one of those ‘pinch me’ moments I’ll never forget! 😂
